The developers shared their plans and development news for the month of January. Players had many questions, and the developers tried to answer them all.
Return of the Forest
Many MudRunner fans missed the full-fledged log transportation system in SnowRunner. Good news – the classic log transportation gameplay is returning to the game with a new major update. Log transportation will be available both in the new Wisconsin region and on the old SnowRunner maps.
You will need to carefully plan every action, complete various wood transportation tasks, restore power supply, and so on. Many tasks will require the use of new generator trailers.
Season 3 content:
- A completely new region – Wisconsin. This region features 2 very large maps. Each map is 4 square kilometers in size.
- New gameplay features, such as the classic log transportation system.
- New vehicles available: International PayStar Twin SteerPacific P512 PFBOAR 45318.
- New customization items.
- And of course, new modules are available.
There is also free content for those who do not purchase the season pass:
- New challenges available. There are 2 in total.
- New missions added. These are available on the old maps of the standard edition of the game.
- Curtains for the cabin and other customization items.
The release of phase 3 is planned for February. However, it is unknown whether there will be any delays.
There is also a list of bugs that have been fixed or will be fixed very soon:
- The endless loading of the friends list will no longer occur.
- On consoles, there was a bug where the money balance would go negative. This error was recently fixed.
- In Yukon, there is a mission involving trailers. However, the description had incorrect numbers. It stated that 10-15 trailers were needed, but this was incorrect; only 2-3 were required. The error has been fixed. According to the developers, the mission will need to be restarted. After that, the bug will disappear.
- On Pick-Big Salmon, vehicles were disappearing. Unfortunately, the lost vehicles cannot be recovered. However, the bug has been fixed and will not happen again.
New Mod Maker Reward System
The developers are once again revising the methods and system for monthly mod maker rewards. Previously, mods were rewarded based on the number of subscribers. The most popular mods received awards. However, this will no longer be the case. Now, the developers at Saber will personally select 5 mods each month that they liked and reward them. One mod is chosen from each of 5 categories. Here are the categories:
- Vehicle Model. The first category. Developers will choose the mod with the highest quality and most beautiful vehicle model.
- Driving. This category selects the mod that offers players the coolest driving experience. This includes both authenticity and “unrestrained fun.”
- Map Design. This one is straightforward: the mod with the best design is chosen (almost everything is considered, from building design to the overall feel of the map).
- Map Environment. This differs slightly from design. The winner in this category is rewarded for the best environment and atmosphere of the map.
- “Unique Mod” Category. The most interesting category. This includes unique mods that, according to the developers, “go beyond the expected.” The more original and well-developed the mod, the higher the chance to be selected in this category.
There are also some restrictions. Here is the list:
- Mods that give players an easy win are not considered.
- If a mod adds vehicles not licensed in SnowRunner, the developers simply cannot reward such mods due to copyright infringement.
- A mod can be rewarded regardless of whether it is suitable for consoles or not.
- The developers’ choice is subjective. It is unknown how people will react to their choices, whether they will agree or not, but in their opinion, this is simply the best way to reward mods to avoid manipulation and other issues.
Mods for Consoles
Now the developers will publish a list of mods for consoles released in the previous week every week. According to them, a new list will be published every Wednesday. However, the release date of the lists may easily change if there are too few mods or for other reasons. Due to copyright, the developers simply cannot publish some mods that include branded vehicles. If the vehicle is already in SnowRunner, it means the developers already have the license, and vehicles with that brand can be safely uploaded.
