Kia Magentis (known as Kia Optima in Russia) is a mid-size sedan from the South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia Motors, with production starting in 2000. Sales worldwide occur under various names. The first generation was more commonly referred to as Kia Optima; however, in Europe and Canada, where sales began in 2002, the car was named Kia Magentis. In the second generation, in the South Korean market, the car was named Kia Lotze and Kia K5, while the global name became Magentis, except in the USA and Malaysia, where the Optima name was retained. Starting from the third generation, production of which began in 2010, the car received the global designation Kia Optima, except in the South Korean, Chinese, and Indonesian markets, where the K5 name was retained, as well as in Malaysia, where the car was named Optima K5.
