Details of the upcoming American Truck Simulator update have become known; it will soon feature the OR-58 highway, which will connect two cities in Oregon – Eugene and Bend. The highway will be quite interesting, as there will be plenty to see and admire. There will also be the Salt Creek river, which flows into Odell Lake, the highest point in the region – Diamond Peak mountain, as well as part of the Willamette Pass ski resort.

And, of course, in update 1.35 the OR-140 highway will be completed after the update’s release. Now this highway will be sufficient to travel directly from Medford (Medford, Oregon) to Winnemucca (Winnemucca, Nevada) without any detours. The center of Klamath Falls was completely redesigned by the authors; via the OR-140 highway, it will also be possible to reach Upper Klamath Lake and the Fremont-Winema National Forest.

The updates also affected the CA-299 highway, which leads from Redding (Redding, California) to Canby (Canby, Oregon). Along this road, you will find a large number of agricultural lands, turns and winding roads (canyons, gorges), and one small town.

Some areas around cities, interchanges, and intersections have also been updated. A new garage has been added in Farmington (Farmington, New Mexico) along with a car dealership and a rest parking area.

No less attention was paid to road signs. The developers have brought them to their real-life appearance. This will be useful for those who like to drive without GPS navigators. With the new 1.35 update, navigation will be much easier. Signs have been updated throughout almost the entire state of Arizona and in some parts of California.

In the new DLC for American Truck Simulator, we will be able to visit a new state on our journeys – Idaho. The area stands out with its large and beautiful mountains, as well as nature in general. In the northwestern state of Idaho, there are many outdoor recreation areas in mountainous locations. Most of Idaho's landscape consists of large mountains, rivers, and agricultural areas.

The release of the new DLC is expected in the second half of 2020. Meanwhile, we can enjoy screenshots that showcase all the charms of the new state, including beautiful cities, pristine lakes, and stunning regions overall.

Additionally, a number of prefabs that will be included in the game can be found, and we will be able to see them on our journeys. Older modular structures will receive a new look and will better harmonize with the game world.

The developers of American Truck Simulator prove this once again, as the Idaho DLC will feature a rather interesting element that allows virtual travelers to better learn the history of various locations.

While traveling through the state of Idaho, you can come across quite interesting signs that were placed by Native Americans so that passersby could learn the history of important historical sites. The developers of American Truck Simulator have brought these signs into the game (there are more than 300 of them). Consequently, virtual travelers will truly have the chance to stop and find out where they are and what makes the place famous. It’s both enjoyable and informative!

A new update is available for American Truck Simulator. The version of this update is 1.37, and the developers have finally decided to launch an open beta test for this update. According to them, they love offering their players new updates and adding new features to the game that players have long requested. Moreover, they greatly appreciate the support during the beta testing phase. The list of changes is quite extensive, but there are several special features that cannot be overlooked.

Working windows
In update 1.37, windows can now be rolled up and down. It might seem like a minor detail. However, it is precisely such small details that make great games, and this feature has been requested for a long time. Well, now everyone can enjoy it.

FMOD integration
The developers are trying to overhaul the game's sound system by adding FMOD support. Moreover, they plan to add the FMOD feature not only to American Truck Simulator but also to Euro Truck Simulator 2. The changes are already noticeable in the new patch, and it sounds pretty cool. Environmental sounds and vehicle sounds have been changed overall. Naturally, the system will continue to be refined and improved, and eventually, we will get the highest quality sound experience in the game.

Outside vehicle inspection
Want to take a walk around your truck and inspect it? Now you have that opportunity. Unfortunately, you still cannot exit the vehicle to explore the city and beautiful areas. However, you can exit your truck in the garage and inspect it. This feature can be used to zoom in as much as possible and customize every detail of your truck.

Food Tank – new trailer
A new trailer has been added to the game – Food Tank. As the name suggests, the trailer is designed for transporting food. However, Food Tank is more suitable for transporting liquid food products. The trailer can be customized.

To participate in the open beta test, you need to have a licensed copy of the game on Steam. Go to your library, right-click on the game, and select "Properties." Then go to the beta testing section and choose the desired version, after which the update will download, and you can launch the game.

Truck stops (or simply gas stations) have become something like a resting place for drivers in real life. Each gas station has its own unique look, color schemes, shops, and more. It has become known that all of this will be added in the Idaho DLC for American Truck Simulator. Thus, each gas station (truck stop) will be unique in its own way.

At truck stops, players will be able to take a short break from long journeys, and of course, refuel their vehicle. Each gas station will have its own unique appearance. Now truck stops have become much larger compared to previous versions. This was done for greater realism.

In addition to changes to gas stations, the Idaho DLC will feature traffic lights with various designs in some cities. It may seem like a minor change. However, it adds realism and slightly changes the environment for drivers.

Quite recently, the developers of American Truck Simulator published a post in which a teaser for the upcoming update could be seen on the computer of one of the team members. Attentive players noticed this, and the developers indeed confirmed that it was done intentionally.

In the upcoming update, the ATS developers promise to revamp Las Vegas – the "Entertainment Capital of the World," as they called the city. Mainly, the surrounding landscapes of the city will be reworked. In addition, the road networks of Las Vegas will undergo significant changes.

The first change will be the addition of a new interstate connection. This refers to highway number 515, which connects I-15 with I-11. Thus, it will be possible to pass through this area without driving directly through the city. This is very important if you have a tight delivery schedule – you will be able to save quite a bit of time.

Some routes/roads have also received very significant changes. For example, US-93 has had its layout changed, with a new entry/exit point added, which should also save a lot of time. Moreover, the I-15 interchange has undergone major changes. In reality, this interchange is called the "spaghetti bowl." Now, thanks to the new layout, it will be clear even in the game why this road is called that.

Las Vegas Boulevard was also heavily reworked. A serious reconstruction was carried out. In addition, the legendary welcome sign to the fabulous Las Vegas is now located where it should be. And let's not forget about the new pedestrian island. From there, you can view the legendary sign.

Furthermore, Las Vegas now has a new truck stop. There, you can refuel your truck and rest.

A beta version of update 1.38 is available for American Truck Simulator. The full release of this update is still a few weeks away, but you can already try the beta version. The city of Las Vegas was the first to be revamped, but that will be covered in another article.

In addition to Las Vegas, the city of El Centro was redesigned. The update is quite large and significant. Additionally, a new highway, US-191, has been added. This highway is located in Arizona. Changes were made to the location of the nearby US-491 airplane. There were also some other road-related changes, but they are less significant.

Among the major changes is the updated SSAO effect. This effect creates shadows in places where various objects connect with each other. This results in a realistic shadow effect and realistic lighting. In short – the SSAO effect creates shadows where they should be but were not before. This effect greatly influences the game’s appearance. The look of paint, chrome, and other materials is significantly improved. The SSAO effect can be adjusted in the settings if performance drops because of it. If the graphics processor is quite weak, it is recommended to disable this effect completely. The difference can be seen in the screenshots.

Equally important – the developers have added an RGB Color Picker feature. Players have requested this feature for a long time, and now it can be fully enjoyed in the game. Thanks to this feature, you can paint your truck using HSV, RGB, and HEX codes. You can save and try out various color combinations. This feature will definitely be useful for people who love customizing their vehicles.
