Peterbilt 379X is a limited edition of the legendary Peterbilt 379.
The Peterbilt 379X was produced from 2004 to 2006, with an estimated total of only 2000 units made, targeting owner-operators. The Special Edition 379X was available only in solid colors with chrome accents, including chrome front fenders and a silver dashboard. This 379X model was offered exclusively with a Caterpillar engine and an 18-speed transmission. The standard Special Edition 379X rolled off dealer lots with a 550 horsepower powertrain, but owners could request increased power as a special option. The 379X was available only with a 70-inch Ultra Unibilt Sleeper cab and was not offered in a tri-axle configuration with a lift axle. Any lift axle configuration on the 379X was installed by private shops. All units produced with the 379X came with an extended hood measuring 127 inches. Standard 379 models featured 119-inch hoods.
