Spintires: Mudrunner Announcement. Pre-order Available!

Greetings, gentlemen!
Today the announcement of the new version of Spintires took place!
It is called Mudrunner: A Spintires game (or Spintires: Mudrunner)
Website: http://mudrunner-spintires.com/ru

The essence of the game remains the same, but everything has been heavily reworked and improved. Here are some of the main innovations:
- 9 single-player missions (with bonus tasks)
- significantly redesigned maps from the old game (and the Volcano map is completely redone), new features for playing on maps (checkpoints, the ability to teleport vehicles, random vehicle spawns on the map)
- for those who haven't played the old game, a full tutorial and simple game progression have been added (maps unlock sequentially)
- general game improvements: multiplayer saves, voice chat, cabin view, improved physics of vegetation, mud, and water
- full support for user maps in the workshop (with the ability to create custom tasks for maps)*

And much more!
But the main thing is, of course, the graphical improvements, which can be appreciated even from the screenshots!
For owners of the old game – 50% discount on Steam!
PC system requirements have not changed.
The game will also be available for PS4 and Xbox One.

P.S.: Every day of delay in the release of the new version was spent improving the game!

* - possibly will be added in an update. I don’t think there’s any need to fear a repeat of the old game’s history; the new version will not be abandoned and will be regularly updated!

Pre-order is available on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/675010/Spintires..

Game History and Its Future

A loose translation of an article from the Spintires: MudRunner group

In 2014, trees shook and everything rumbled as players drove trucks, getting stuck in the mud. That was the captivating magic of Spintires, a serious simulation of the simple attempt to drive through rough and impassable Russian terrain. But ongoing development stalled in a prolonged dispute between developer Pavel Zagrebelny and the publishers Oovee Game Studio, and Spintires seemed to remain as rust in cyber-mud.
Well! In an unexpected and tangled turn, Spintires has returned with a new edition, now released by a different studio and with a different publisher (update: with Zagrebelny, since he is the game’s creator). Focus Home Interactive today announced the release of Spintires: MudRunner, an expanded and expandable future edition of Spintires, coming in October.

Spintires: MudRunner is being developed by Saber Interactive, developers who created Will Rock and Inversion, and also worked on games including Quake Champions. Focus Home says what to expect:
“Compared to its predecessor, this huge update includes a new Sandbox Map pack combining 5 standard maps that have been completely reworked, and a new Challenge mode with 9 new unique maps, 13 new vehicles, and other comprehensive and accompanying improvements.”

But since this is an update rather than a sequel, we decided to offer people who own the original Spintires on Steam a 50% discount.

“No, I have no idea how the new Spintires is being re-released, and why by a different company, with different developers? Presumably Focus bought or licensed the rights to Spintires, but how did this happen, and how involved is Zagrebelny in all this? [strikethrough text begins] Zagrebelny discussed the new version during a Russian interview in July, so it seems he is making... the game? [editor’s note – This refers to Pavel’s Q&A about the game announcement a month ago] But Focus only mentions Saber. I asked Focus to understand what’s going on. [strikethrough text ends]”

Update: “Focus Home tells us that Zagrebelny has returned to Saber Interactive with his game Spintires: MudRunner as its official owner and lead developer. That is, he came to us with the game, and we supported him.”

The development of Spintires was complicated. During its successful Kickstarter campaign in 2013, tensions between Zagrebelny and Oovee threatened the game’s fate. For several years, Pavel accused Oovee of refusing to support the game; there were occasional temporary reconciliations, but only briefly. Rumors increasingly spoke of publisher sabotage, while the game’s massive sales suggested Oovee was receiving a very large and unjustified income. They only “supported” the game for the first two years after release, then completely stopped contacting Zagrebelny and the rest of the community—there were no official statements on the Oovee forum for over 16 months.
Whatever the new agreement with Zagrebelny is, Focus is at least a stable and predictable publisher.

It’s a shame all this is tied to such an interesting game. As Adam said in his Spintires review:
“In the world of Spintires, skills are measured in inches of control, not miles per hour, and the terrain changes and deforms as trucks pass over it. This is a game where excessive throttle won’t save the driver. There are no verbs like ‘overtake,’ ‘drift,’ or ‘vroom!’ but there are ‘muck,’ ‘press,’ and ‘think.’ The last one is probably the most important. For all this, the game is made of mess and mud; Spintires is a game of precision and care. To cross difficult and shifting terrain, every wheel turn and pedal press must be carefully calculated and measured.”

You can feel powerful playing this game on PC: a serious simulation of something so dirty it almost sounds like a joke—“mucking about in the mud”—but it’s genuinely thrilling.

MudRunner News: Week 41, 2017

News about water in Spintires MudRunner
Question: Does the new water have a physical impact on vehicles, for example, can a very raging river overturn a vehicle with water currents or carry away a light vehicle, etc.?
Answer: Water has always had a physical impact, but its behavior has noticeably improved in MudRunner! The old water applied its impulses to the base of the physics bodies, so vehicles never overturned. Vehicles will now be much easier to overturn (by underwater currents when you are fully submerged). In short, the water flow now affects physics more naturally (the visual flow model has also been improved).
Trailers now have cables and air hoses: Unlike earlier versions, cables and air hoses have been improved.
Question: Will MudRunner have full controller support on PC (Steam)?
Answer: Of course!
Question: Will there be more options to customize each wheelset on vehicles?
Answer: This is one of the reasons why the "Change vehicle wheelset" feature was removed in MudRunner.
Question: Will it be possible to install addons on trailers, or attach a trailer to another trailer (if there are multiple)?
Answer: Possibly in updates.
Question: Have lighting issues been fixed?
Answer: Many improvements and fixes have been made to lighting.
Introducing the C-256 truck!

Vehicle description:
The C-256 is at its best when pulling logs. It is one of the only vehicles in the game capable of transporting long logs, making it your favorite carrier. With a jeep for scouting the map and a fuel tanker, the C-256 is an invaluable worker.

Technical specifications:
The C-256 has a 330-liter tank and a differential lock. It can take up to 600 damage units in the game. It has one garage point; after unlocking, the C-256 will become your main vehicle for transporting logs.

Strengths:
The C-256 is one of the few vehicles capable of transporting long logs in the game.

Weaknesses:
The C-256 is not equipped with all-wheel drive and struggles to overcome difficult terrain. Without a scouted route or a dedicated road, it won’t get far.

Addons:
The C-256 is one of the few vehicles capable of attaching an addon for transporting long logs. It can use other addons, but its poor off-road capability will spoil your desire to use it as a support vehicle.

Fuel tank – can transport fuel.
Semi-trailer tank – a trailer that can transport fuel.
Garage cart – a trailer that carries one garage point.
Garage parts – can carry two garage points.
Garage semi-trailer – a trailer that transports four garage points.

MudRunner News: Week 42, 2017

Question: Are there now bubbles from the exhaust when the exhaust is underwater?
Answer: Yes, there are.

Question: In Spintires MudRunner, there will be saves in multiplayer. Does this mean that if a client loses connection to the host during the game and later reconnects, they will be able to continue where they left off, or will everything reset (map markings, truck positions, etc.)?
Answer: Game progress is now always saved in multiplayer, for both the host and the client!

Question: Will loading and unloading points, vehicles, or anything else now be generated on the map?
Answer: Vehicles will now be randomly generated each time you start a map, so each of your sessions will be unique. As for changing loading and unloading locations – it’s not that simple! Maps are generally designed with specific routes that the player can choose when playing!

References to working mirrors and a detailed dashboard, as well as a function to enable/disable the driver’s hands for modders, have been found in the Spintires: Mudrunner game files!
Introducing the D-537 truck!

The D-537 is a vehicle that will save you from trouble. Getting stuck in the mud and being swept away by the current when crossing a river is dangerous, but with the D-537, you can restore your vehicle on demand.

Technical specifications:
The D-537 has a fuel capacity of 600 liters, as well as all-wheel drive and a permanently active differential lock. It can take up to 800 damage points. Costing 4 balance points, once unlocked, the D-537 will be excellent protection if something goes wrong.

Strengths:
The D-537 is perfect for crossing terrain that most other vehicles cannot. It will get you where you need to go to save other vehicles that are beyond their limits.

Weaknesses:
The D-537 is a very heavy vehicle, so it consumes a lot of fuel.

Add-ons:
Fuel tank – can carry fuel.
Garage parts – can carry two garage points.
Garage trailer – trailer with two garage points.
Flatbed trailer – a trailer that allows carrying short logs.
Flatbed platform – allows carrying short logs.
Spare wheel – for vehicle repairs.
Coupling – allows attaching semi-trailers.
Service cart – can repair other vehicles.

MudRunner News: Week 43, 2017

Are you already ready to celebrate Halloween and crush pumpkins in the game?

Release on October 31! Here is the time it will be available in your region (image).
Introducing the E-7310!

The biggest, most powerful vehicle in the game, the MAZ-7310, nothing and no one can stop it. It can drive where no one else can, and it can pull any vehicle out of the mud without any problems.

Technical specifications:
The E-7310 has an 800-liter fuel tank, all-wheel drive, and a permanently active differential lock. It can take up to 1000 damage points in the game.
This vehicle can be unlocked with 5 game points, and once unlocked, the E-7310 will serve as an assistant when others are unable to help.

Strengths:
The E-7310 excels at crossing hard terrain and can also tow any vehicles across a powerful river.

Weaknesses:
The E-7310 consumes a lot of fuel and, with the differential lock always on, has driving difficulties on asphalt.

Add-ons:
The E-7310 has few add-ons since it is a workhorse designed to assist other trucks:
Fuel tank – transports fuel.
Garage trailer – a trailer that provides 2 garage points.
Logging platform – can carry medium logs.
Flatbed platform – can carry short logs.
Spare wheel – for vehicle repairs.
Service cart – can repair other vehicles.
ZAZ-968M – the passenger car known as the "Zaporozhets" – now in MudRunner!

The ZAZ-968M is not exactly what you would call a work vehicle. You won’t use the ZAZ-968M to tow other cars or carry heavy loads, but it’s definitely suitable for transporting a Soviet refrigerator!

Technical specifications:
The ZAZ-968M has a 40-liter fuel tank, is not all-wheel drive, and has no differential lock. It won’t get stuck on almost any heavy terrain. It can take up to 160 damage points in the game. The ZAZ-968M is the least used vehicle in the game, so it doesn’t have much value in the game, but it is a reconnaissance vehicle.

Strengths:
The ZAZ-968M has one advantage over other vehicles in Spintires: MudRunner – it moves quickly on roads.

Weaknesses:
The ZAZ-968M cannot effectively move through mud, has a very small fuel tank, and can break from minor damage. The ZAZ-968M is also not a starting vehicle.

Add-ons:
The ZAZ-968M can carry only one add-on, a refrigerator:

Garage parts – provides one garage point.
