Recently, the SnowRunner developers released the
DLC Clasico Pack, which was offered separately from the season pass. This caused serious issues and disputes with players, and the developers finally provided comments regarding the situation. According to them, the season pass will contain the vast majority of additional content. However, they may still release separate small DLCs, sell them separately, or distribute them for free.
It became clear that the developers will continue to release both paid and free DLCs that will add various vehicles, skins, and more. But in terms of quality, they will not even come close to the season pass, as the goal of the season pass is to provide the player with the best possible SnowRunner experience. Some of the smaller DLCs are completely unplanned. Some exclusive vehicles appeared in the game thanks to collaborations with certain brands and were not originally planned to be added. Such additional rarities are intended for those who want to collect rare vehicles and more, but they do not affect the gameplay experience.
Now a bit about the next (second) phase of the SnowRunner season pass. Since work on the first phase was recently completed, the developers have started working on the second phase. This phase is called "Explore and Expand." Additionally, the developers are actively working on other updates, and mods will soon become available on consoles. Let’s look at the content of the second phase.
New Region – Canada
- The region will consist of two new maps. These new maps will be huge – 4 km² each. This is the maximum map size, and exploring them will take a huge amount of time.
- This region is snowy. However, the developers created something unique – a semi-snowy region. Essentially, it’s a mix of snow and mud, where players can test their skills in a completely new way.
- The region will have its own objective – to build a processing plant. There are 3 new buildings in total. They can be constructed in any order, giving new opportunities to the player.
New Gameplay Formula
- Now exploring the map brings much more benefit. The main gameplay in the new region is exploring the map, searching for various materials and buildings. Buildings can be dismantled.
Vehicles
- Since material collection mechanics will be added to the game, appropriate equipment will be needed. A CAT forklift will be added. Thanks to this vehicle, the new collection mechanic can be fully realized.
- The CAT dump truck – a new vehicle, which is also the largest truck in the series.
- A new Russian truck.
- 3 new vehicle skins.
Other
- New decals will be available with the second phase of the season pass. Additionally, these decals can be attached to the vehicle body.
- Two new cargo types.
Free Content
As with the first phase, players who did not purchase the season pass will still receive free content, namely:
- New challenges. There are 2 in total.
- A new system for attaching trucks to trailers.
- Some areas will receive new contracts. These are Alaska and Taimyr.
- A mod browser available in SnowRunner.
- A new feature for modders. Now map creators will be able to create their own regions. This means that new regions can also have interconnected maps. This opens up completely new possibilities for mod makers.
- Multiplayer will now be available on unofficial maps. Players will be able to complete community maps together.
- Weather synchronization will be implemented in co-op play. It will no longer be the case that one player has bad weather while another has good weather.
- New settings such as FPS limit options, disabling the driver model, and more.
