DLC Texas: New Batch of Screenshots from Developers

Texas is an incredibly diverse, beautiful, and at the same time vast state, and for this reason, it is quite difficult to gather all the information in one place. The developers of American Truck Simulator constantly share batches of screenshots and new information regarding the upcoming update. We invite you to take a look at another batch of screenshots (there will only be more in the future) and appreciate the fields, meadows, and plains that cover most of the state's territory.
Texas is rich in various flora and fauna. For this reason, you will often encounter different animals. You will also notice new signs warning people that there are many snakes in these areas.
Additionally, Texas is famous for having a huge number of legends and myths. Many places you can drive through have legends associated with them.
The total size of Texas is 268,596 square miles. This is an enormous territory, and along the way, you will see many interesting things, with the most wonderful being the natural landscapes that will accompany you almost everywhere. Now just take a look at the screenshots to see all the beauty of the upcoming DLC Texas expansion!

ATS Update 1.43 Open Beta

Open beta testing has started for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. There are more changes in ETS 2, but ATS also has a lot of interesting updates in version 1.43. Let’s take a look at the changes.
Before that, a reminder that this is only an open beta test, where various bugs and errors may occur. You can help the developers fix issues simply by reporting them. Anyone interested can participate in the beta testing.
Patch notes
Update 1.43 adds the ability to purchase your own dump trailers. There are different configurations: either 30 or 36 feet, choice of axle count (2 or 3), full exterior customization of the trailer, and more. These trailers are perfect for transporting bulk materials.Reworked cabin sounds. A great feature that now changes the ambient sounds when the camera is inside the cabin, creating the impression that you are really inside the truck. When viewed from the cabin, the sounds of tires, engine, and the surrounding environment all change. The developers have big plans for sound rework.SDF fonts. Another important point that makes the in-game text much better, as SDF fonts can adapt to different screen resolutions and look good. They display well at any scale, can adapt to various resolutions, and have many other advantages. For now, this font will be used in some interface details, license plates, Convoy mode name tags, and other various places. Minor improvements and fixes have been made to the maps.

DLC Montana: Announcement and First Screenshots

Another batch of good news for American Truck Simulator players. The game developers have announced an upcoming update – the Montana DLC, and shared some screenshots. If you love wildlife, charming towns, various lakes, and rugged mountainous terrain – you will definitely like Montana. There is no information yet on the release date of the expansion, as the Montana DLC is still in a very early stage of development, so don’t expect it anytime soon.
Montana is an incredible place for nature lovers. Various national parks, incredibly beautiful towns, and most importantly – breathtaking views that will leave no one indifferent.
Keep in mind that the expansion is still in its very early development stage, so even the locations shown in these screenshots are not fully developed, and much may change in the final version.

SCS Blog: 2022 Freightliner Cascadia Update

Great news for fans of the Cascadia truck. The 1.43 update will feature brand new customization options that allow you to configure this truck to the 2022 version - Freightliner Cascadia. This truck stands out with its new capabilities, options, and some other features.
The 2022 Cascadia has new cool interior options. Naturally, there are also cosmetic changes, and now the Freightliner Cascadia looks different, more attractive. The new version uses less fuel, which is also a pretty important feature for drivers.
But what specific changes have been made? Special attention deserves the new digital ultra-modern dashboard, where all the information you need is displayed in a convenient and beautiful way. The 72 "Sleeper" Driver’s Loft cabin is an important feature of this configuration, aimed at driver comfort. Now the driver can relax and rest after a long trip. The new accessories that add personality to your truck should not be overlooked either.
This modern truck also received a cooler exterior: a new bumper, leading wheel fairings, and air deflectors. Overall aerodynamics have been improved. The new parts affect not only the truck’s appearance but also fuel consumption, which has decreased. And the look itself has become incredibly cool and modern. You can upgrade your Cascadia truck to the new version in the workshop or purchase the modern version from a Freightliner dealer.

SCS Blog: California Reconstruction

The developers of American Truck Simulator are actively working on a project for a complete overhaul of California. The first steps toward rebuilding California were already taken in update 1.41, but that was only the initial phase, and work on this captivating project is still ongoing. A dedicated team called California Revamp is responsible for the overhaul. In the first phase, they revamped many roads, added agricultural stations, and more. But what are they working on now?
For the most part, California Revamp is a team of junior map designers. However, they did a great job in the first phase, so it was decided to let them work on the second phase as well. The problem is that many members of the California Revamp team were reassigned to work on other, larger and more interesting expansions. That’s why the development of the California overhaul project has slowed down.
Phase 2
Now let’s take a closer look at the changes planned for the second phase of the state’s overhaul. It will affect the following cities: Eureka, Ukiah, Sacramento, Redding, and Truckee. The developers want to almost completely redesign and rebuild these cities. In the second phase, not only the cities themselves will be rebuilt, but also the road networks leading to them, various landmarks, architecture, and much more.
Of course, there will be new roads—routes you couldn’t previously drive on. The industries deserve special attention. For example, this area includes the Napa Valley with its vineyards. Visually, there will be many changes: some textures will be significantly improved, new plants will appear, and much more. The project is very promising.
But there is also some bad news. The developers made a rather controversial decision—to remove the city of San Rafael. However, don’t be upset. In the third phase of this project, a completely new city will be added. It’s not yet known which city this will be, but information about it will be released soon.
The changes are quite extensive. Initially, the developers only wanted to slightly update the appearance of the state’s cities, but then they decided to completely overhaul everything, as they now have much more experience in urban planning and want to fix the mistakes they made when creating California in ATS.
California will be brought up to a proper standard, matching the quality of current expansions, since it is an extremely important state visited by every player in ATS.
Plans for the future
We’ve covered the second phase, but what will happen to California after phase 2 is completed? What changes will be made going forward? Keep in mind that these plans may change, and this is not a promise—developers are merely sharing their thoughts.
Most likely, after completing the second phase, the California Revamp team will focus on the San Francisco Bay area, where a huge amount of work awaits them. However, it’s quite possible that various cities will also be touched upon in phase 3—this all depends on the size of the team at the time of phase 3 development, as new developers are planned to be recruited soon. Work on California will continue regardless.
