Ural-375, Checkpoints, and Steam Controller Support in Upcoming Update

A fresh batch of screenshots from the developers.

Yes, despite the game crashing issues and the unclear situation with user maps, the developers are pretending everything is fine and are working on improving the game.

In the upcoming update, we can expect a new Ural-375 (screenshots 1-3), checkpoints (blockposts), which we have already written about and will actually be openable (screenshot 4). The screenshot shows that you will only be able to pass through this checkpoint with an empty vehicle (no cargo).
Additionally, judging by the last (5th) screenshot, there will be support for the Steam Controller (according to other sources, the Xbox controller).

Well, we wait... We wait almost as much as for the crash fixes!

P.S.: As always, not a word about the update release date.

Spintires Editor Advanced Brush Pack for SpinTires

Greetings to all. Here are brushes for the editor.
Installation: Place them in the editor folder, agreeing to overwrite.
Paint on the map and enjoy.

When creating Distributions, new brushes will appear in the Brushes line.
FirSmall - Small fir trees as a separate brush (those with a winch attachment point).
StumpsBirch - Birch stumps.

Set "Autumn/Swamp":
Birches Swamp - Birches with yellowed and fallen leaves. Suitable for swamps or autumn maps.
Birches Swamp Long - Tall birches with yellow and fallen leaves.
Birches Twigs - Broken birch branches.
GrassReed - Reeds.
LyingSprucesDry - Dried and yellowed, sawed-off tops of fir trees.

Set "Forest with Fireflies":
The fireflies' light color has been changed to green.
CropsIllum - Fern glowing at night.
FernsIllum - Fern and burdock glowing at night.
FlowersIllum - Includes all flowers in the brush (Replaces the standard flower brush).
FlowerBlyeIllum - Blue flowers.
FlowerPinkIllum - Pink flowers.
FlowerRedIllum - Red flowers.

Set "Burnt Forest":
Fire - The brush includes several firs and shrubs.

When building a map using these brushes, you need to include in the map archive:
dds files from the billboards folder.
hml files from the classes folder (then the grass and/or plants folder).
dds textures and mesh from the Media folder.

Tracks in SpinTires

And yet they rotate... I'm talking about the tracks! The tracks in SpinTires, CARL!

It so happened that in the game SpinTires everything is different from the rest: here we have a unique physics engine that allows for the most realistic off-road vehicle movement to date; and the game was essentially created by one person - that's an enormous effort! Unfortunately, the game is now being "polished" by the players themselves, although the developer continues to work, but people are tired of waiting.

Okay, releasing patches that prevent game crashes and add extra features (like with the camera, etc.). But here are the tracks! Just look at them! By the way, the cannon seems to rotate along with the camera.
Of course, this is only a test sample and everything works not quite well: only one track rotates, and its grip on the surface seems to be small. But still, this is a step forward, let's see what happens next and wait for a mod for general testing :)

SpinTiresMod.exe version 1.4.7 alpha for SpinTires (v03.03.16)

What's included:
- mod for Spintires, supported versions: Steam 03.03.16, MailRu 09.11.16;
- built-in version of SpintiresPlus;
- modified SpinTiresEditorMod editor;
- utility for working with map files LevelTools;
- mod manager.

Spintires mod:
- Support for maps larger than 1x1 km.
- Support for tracked vehicles.
- In-game mod manager, ability to enable/disable signed workshop mods.
- New mod support system. Ability to add additional language files. Workshop mod localization.
- Launch normally or via modified exe file (Steam version only, needed only if memory shortage issues occur, it patches the ability to allocate more than 2GB of memory to the application).
- MailRu version now saves settings in its own folder.

Spintires Editor mod:
- Removed map size restrictions.
- Improved height calculation.
- Ability to change maximum height, default is 64m.

Installation:
1. Install anywhere like any program – run it.
2. Click Settings, first field SpinTires Directory – click Install and specify the game folder. It should look something like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Spintires\
3. Click Ok, the program will show a Launch Spintires button – launch the game through it!

How to add a mod (vehicles, maps, etc.):
1. A mod can be a folder or a ZIP archive.
2. Check the correct mod structure – the mod folder/archive should contain game folders like classes, levels, etc. The Media folder is not needed!
3. All mods can be placed in the program folder "Data\Spintires\Mods"
4. You can also add your own mod folder – in the mod manager on the "Mod Folders" page.
5. If everything is correct – the game should detect the mod.
6. In the mod manager you can manage mods – enable/disable, set priority, specify additional mod tags.

Workshop mod localization. See the example in the screenshots.

Tag String:
- Attribute "Type": can be "assets", "game", "help", "ui"
- Attribute "Replace": if "True" – replaces the previous value. Use carefully, it can overwrite values from any mod!

Tag Language:
- Attribute "Id": two-letter language code, e.g. "ru" or "en"
- Tag value: the text itself
- Attribute "Value": the text itself (better to use the tag value), if the tag value is not empty, the attribute is ignored

Additional localization for any mods.

See example in folder Data\Spintires\ModsExample\ExtraStrings.
"_append_levels_game.txt", "_prepend_std_game.txt" – what it means:
- prefix "_append_", "_prepend_" – defines how the word will be added. "_append_" – if already present, it will not be added. "_prepend_" – if already present, it will be replaced.
- postfix "_game" – word group, can be "assets", "game", "help", "ui".
- in the middle "levels", "std" (between prefix and postfix) can be anything – essentially a unique identifier.

Static Objects from the "Shadow of Chernobyl" Map v0.04 for SpinTires (v03.03.16)

A few objects themed around the game "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." for map makers.

The pack includes:
- Cordon: buildings for the checkpoint, railway bridge (intact and destroyed), railway tunnel, bus stop
- Agroindustrial complex buildings (in pieces), including the famous mural from the DK "Energetik," a smokestack, short staircase
- Dark Valley: unfinished building
- Military warehouses: barrack, hangar, water tower, bridge support, bridge beam
- Red Forest: derrick (Forester’s house), reserve fence (2 pcs)
- Yantar: brick fence, scientists’ bunker, factory workshops (large and small)
- Additionally: two-story brick Khrushchyovka, garage, administrative building, posters for the parade ground (3 pcs)
- Textures of asphalt, asphalt road, as well as construction debris, markings – solid and dashed lines, military parade ground, default two-lane road but with brighter white markings.

Some objects are better slightly rescaled, although they were created in real metric meters and have plausible sizes. Also, the object centers (from where the axes grow) got misplaced during conversion from Max (but usually remained within the object, so it’s not a big deal).

The archive includes a nano-map to drive around and see some objects in their natural habitat.
