The open beta testing of update 1.32 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 has already started, and it will be available for American Truck Simulator a little later.
The main feature of this update
is personal trailers, which everyone has been waiting for so long.
More than a year was spent developing this functionality. Now trailers can be purchased, customized, and painted. The trailer can be used by the owner themselves or by any of their drivers. However, the owner can also lock a specific trailer if they wish to use it exclusively.
While working on trailers, some had to be completely redone, and others partially redesigned. Double trailers are in the game, but their use is limited to certain regions only.
Owning trailers necessitated adding additional icons for accessing the new functionality through the game's main menu (desktop). Now there are two large widgets on the right side of the screen instead of three smaller ones. New screens were created for managing trailers, and several existing company management screens had to be modified to implement the new feature. At the same time, font clarity and color perception were improved.
The second big news is the beginning of the restoration of old parts of the ETS2 game world. It will take time to overhaul all the districts in need, but the first step has been taken. The road network in the northern part of Germany was replaced, and all German cities received a facelift. In fact, four German cities were destroyed and rebuilt from scratch.
Other additions and changes:
- Scania 2016 is now present in traffic, and the player will transport brand-new trucks from the factory in Södertälje to the dealer.
- Trucks in traffic now have cables to trailers, with an option to turn them for presentation purposes.
- Lighting has been adjusted and day-night synchronization in ATS has been refined.
- The game code has been optimized, which in some scenarios increases FPS.
- The speed limit in France has been reduced to 80 km/h on certain roads.
- The automatic parking brake is now disabled by default; therefore, those who like this feature need to enable it again in the game settings.
