Checkpoint and Mud Tracks

A new batch of rumors:
Checkpoints (control posts) will be added to the maps. There is no information on how they will work. It is still unknown whether they will be simply impassable objects on the map or if they can be opened (obtain a pass).
Tracks will now be left by mud on the ground (possibly on asphalt and other surfaces as well) (2nd and 3rd pictures).
All these changes are promised to delight us in the upcoming update.

P.S.: Meanwhile, the game on Steam has rolled back to version 17.11.15. The developer does not know the reason. Oovee has not responded yet. Maybe they are already trying to roll out the update, but something went wrong?

UPDATE 24.02.16: The game has updated again to 25.12.15c. Waiting for official statements..

Ural-375, Checkpoints, and Steam Controller Support in Upcoming Update

"Yeah, the game doesn’t work at all, and they’re busy with checkpoints" © SPINTIRES Hardcore.

A fresh batch of screenshots from the developers.

Yes, despite the game crashing issues and the unclear situation with user maps, the developers are pretending everything is fine and are working on improving the game.

In the upcoming update, we can expect a new Ural-375 (screenshots 1-3), checkpoints (blockposts), which we have already written about and will actually be openable (screenshot 4). The screenshot shows that you will only be able to pass through this checkpoint with an empty vehicle (no cargo).
Additionally, judging by the last (5th) screenshot, there will be support for the Steam Controller (according to other sources, the Xbox controller).

Well, we wait... We wait almost as much as for the crash fixes!

P.S.: As always, not a word about the update release date.

SpinTires not available on Steam

Due to the untimely upload of the patch fixing the game’s bug by OOVEE, the purchase of SpinTires on Steam is temporarily blocked.
A few days ago, Pavel handed over the patch for upload to the public (release) version of the game to OOVEE representatives. But OOVEE decided to test and upload the patch only today (there are doubts about today’s release upload due to OOVEE’s sluggishness). The reason for this is the blocking of game sales on Steam due to a large number of complaints about the game’s non-functionality. Simply put—the publisher’s main source of income has been cut off. We are monitoring their further actions.

By the way, players can continue playing, but buying or gifting the game through Steam will not be possible.

Moreover, OOVEE still has no intention of communicating with Pavel or giving him money. Receiving updates and patches—sure, but testing, making contact, or transferring money—that’s not OOVEE’s business...

For the game’s fans: Don’t worry, the game is developing and will continue to develop at the same pace. Pavel is always working on the game, but he will not hand over updates to a dishonest publisher, just as they won’t give money to Pavel. The exception is that Pavel will always support the game with patches and fixes; everything depends solely on OOVEE’s timeliness in uploading patches.
Furthermore, even if the publisher abandons the game, Pavel will continue developing it, but under a “different banner,” i.e., the core and engine will be the same, but the truck concept will be somewhat different.

SpinTires Updated to 03.03.16

Today, the game SpinTires has been updated to version 03.03.16.

Fixed errors causing crashes.
Some assets in the game have been disabled due to causing errors. The assets will be restored in the next update once the code error is fixed.

P.S.: To ensure the game works properly after the update, you need to delete the custom fixes (2 files), if you installed them.

Original:
First we apologize again for the recent issue causing crashing of spintires and the delay in resolving this.

We are pleased to say we have now released a fix for the recent crash onto Steam.

In the next few days we will release a full and frank statement regarding the cause of the problem and how we plan to avoid this happening again, as well as details of the next update we have been working on since the start of 2016 which we plan to start testing next week.

For now follow the instructions below and start to play Spintires again!

If Steam is running, exit Steam before follwing these steps.
If you applied the dll fix made by forum user Localhost that was on the forum, please remove it first.
Start Steam and it should automatically download the update.
Now start the game, it should display 03-03-2016 in the bottom left corner.

If you have mods or custom changes and face any problems after trying the above please follow the steps below:

- Shut down Steam
- Go to Steam folder and then to steamapps\common\Spintires\Media and temporary move ALL your mods to other directory (also delete any dump files you might find)
By default it is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Spintires\
- Press combination Logo Windows + R, enter %appdata%\Spintires and click OK
- Delete all subfolders and files except UserSaves (this will reset your config)
- Run Steam
- If the game was already updated please verify local game files, otherwise wait until automatic update is applied
- Run the game
- Re-add your mods

If after following these steps you get a message "game files differ, multiplayer and achievements", then please follow this guide.

Workshop Maps for Steam

March 8th brought a peculiar gift for the game SpinTires: users found a way to upload maps to the Workshop. Of course, this is unofficial, and there is no guarantee that all uploaded maps won’t be removed in an hour, but for now everything works – installs and plays.

Instructions on how to upload a map to the Steam Workshop:

1. Download STEAMCMD from here, unpack it anywhere, for example to C:\Mods.

2. In the editor, create a new mod, open it in the Workshop, for example http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id.. . We need the mod ID – in this case 641729430. In the _mods folder, look at the name of the folder of the newly created mod – 26400396 (see screenshot).

3. Create a .ZIP archive with your map files (.stg and .dds in the levels folder, your objects, textures, and other files if any). Rename the strings.xml file to 26400396.xml (it must be inside the archive), the archive name must be 26400396.zip in this case.

4. Create an empty folder anywhere, for example C:\Mods\level_test, inside it create a folder named content (resulting in C:\Mods\level_test\content), then copy the previously created archive into it, in our example 26400396.zip.

5. Next, create a map preview by converting the .DDS to a .PNG file named preview.png, the image size is usually 515x512, maximum file size 1023 KB, copy this file to C:\Mods\level_test.

6. Create the content.vdf file:

"workshopitem"
{
"appid" "263280"
"contentfolder" "C:\\Mods\\level_test\\content"
"previewfile" "C:\\Mods\\level_test\\preview.png"
"visibility" "2"
"title" "Your Map Name"
"description" "map description"
"changenote" "release notes"
"publishedfileid" "641729430"
}

7. Create the batch file upload.cmd in the folder C:\Mods\level_test:

"C:\Mods\steamcmd.exe" +login your_login your_password +workshop_build_item "C:\Mods\level_test\content.vdf" +quit
pause

8. As a result, the folder C:\Mods\level_test should have the following structure:
C:\Mods\level_test
|- content
...|- 26400396.zip
|- content.vdf
|- preview.png
|- upload.cmd

9. Run upload.cmd. If everything is done correctly, a new map will appear in your Workshop items.
