Mr.BoS and STMods.ru Best Map Contest 2018

Friends, hello everyone! On the Mr.BoS channel and on the STMods.ru website, as well as with the participation of everyone who cares about this game, a joint contest for the BEST MAP of 2018 is being held! Any map maker can participate in the contest. The main condition is that the map must be at least 32x32 in size and must be new (not a conversion from an old version of the game) and not publicly available. It is welcomed if you specify which mods are recommended for playing the map. Everything else is up to the discretion and imagination of the map makers.

The prize fund is 7000 rubles. Participation in the contest is free. You must submit an application to participate on the STMods.ru website by leaving a comment under this post. The last day to submit a map for the contest is May 3, 2018. Send the map for review and the contest via private message on VK or Discord or any other convenient way either to Mr.BoS (Alexander Zadorin on VK) or Alexey Sinev.

All maps that enter the contest will be tested and played through on the Mr.BoS channel. After playing them, voting will be held on the STMods.ru website and in the Mr.BoS VK group. All votes will be counted and taken into account.

After the voting, all maps will be made publicly available and uploaded by the map authors to the STMods.ru website. The maps will be played under code names (for example 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.). The map authors will also be revealed only after the voting to minimize biased voting. We do this to make the voting as objective and fair as possible. Authors who try to campaign during the voting will be disqualified.
The voting period is 1 week after all maps have been played through!

1st place - 4000
2nd place - 2000
3rd place - 1000
Additional prize from Mr.BoS - the game ETS2 as a gift at his discretion.

Update 02.04.18:
Voting procedure: depending on the number of participants, we randomly divide them into groups of 4-5 maps. Within a week, we play through (or simply review) all the maps in the group. At the beginning of the next week after reviewing all the maps in the group, a (one-week) vote starts to choose the best map from that group. At the same time, maps from the next group are shown, with voting for them starting at the beginning of the following week, and so on until all maps have been reviewed.
After all maps have been reviewed and group votes held, a final vote is created, with participants being the maps that won their weekly votes. The results of this vote will determine the best map!

We remind you that during the stream of a contest map, no viewer (not even the author) is allowed to reveal either the name or, especially, the author of the map. Otherwise, the map will be excluded from the contest.

Update 12.05.18: at the request of voters - maps that made it to the final vote will be made publicly available during the voting period without author attribution, so voters can try out each map before voting.

New Mode - True Hardcore

Six months have passed since the release of SpinTires: MudRunner, and today the developers announced a new feature in SpinTires: MudRunner for all dedicated players and fans - a new simulator mode for SpinTires: MudRunner. This mode is "True Hardcore," which will make the game much harder and increase the difficulty of progression.

How does it work? Now you can encounter spots on the map that will be collapsing quicksand! These spots are randomly generated, and you will have to carefully plan and check your route to avoid getting stuck up to the roof. You will need to demonstrate all your winch mastery, as well as show all your truck driving skills, to avoid getting stuck in the sand forever.

Quicksand is deadly even in multiplayer, thanks to the fact that the sand can drag several trucks connected by a winch underground at once. To survive, be ready to stop immediately and lend a helping hand to your friends. If your vehicle sinks too deep underground, it will become inaccessible until the end of the map run.

You can try to pull the vehicle out if you really try hard, but it will require the work of your entire team as a single unit, and even if you manage to pull your vehicle out - it will remain inaccessible until you fully repair it.

Update 18/03/06 for Spintires: MudRunner - Steam Workshop Map Support

Today the 18/03/06 update has been released, adding Steam Workshop map support for PC players. Now maps can officially be added and downloaded in the workshop just like vehicles.

In addition to the game, the Spintires: MudRunner Editor has also been updated. To help everyone get acquainted with the modding tools, the developers have created a detailed guide (Eng.). This manual teaches how to create both vehicles and maps.
Moreover, modders have already added quite a few useful n#scrollTop=0">modding guides.

Changes on the proving ground:
- You can finally select any vehicle, even if you don’t have enough progress points for normal gameplay.
- Dev level (?)

Editor changelog:
- Fixed bugs and improved map editing mode.
- Undo/redo history (CTRL+Z and CTRL+Y) now works for changing object position and orientation.
- Trucks are now better visualized on the map. Added a dialog for selecting truck/trailer/addon.
- Truck orientation can now be arbitrary. (Trucks no longer need to be grounded)
- Mods can now contain levels that export correctly to the workshop.
- Improvements made to the "import spintires-2016 level" feature (importing maps from the 2016 version).
- Vehicle textures are now better optimized during export to the workshop.
- Added a "default screenshot" feature for uploaded mods, including maps.

If you don’t want to switch to this update, you can stay on the old version by selecting the ver_18_01_29b branch in the available betas.

Implementing Connector Cable System in ETS 2 and ATS

The developers have shared one of the features of the upcoming 1.31 update – a system of hoses and cables between the tractor and trailers.

As seen in the video below, the developers managed to implement physics for the simulated cables and hoses for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. In fact, developing such a seemingly simple feature turned out to be quite a challenging task. It’s also important to remember that when adding this kind of functionality, the developers have to review all existing tractors and trailers in the games once again to add the new functionality for them as well.

The system of connecting cables and hoses will be available on all tractors and trailers, including double and triple trailers, where this functionality will also be present.

In the game settings, you will be able to choose one of three modes for this functionality:
- Full simulation of connecting cables – selecting this option will show cables and hoses between the tractor and all trailers;
- Simplified simulation – only the cables connecting the tractor and the first trailer will be visible here;
- Complete disabling of the connecting cables system.

Farming Simulator Series Turns 10 Today

Exactly 10 years ago, on April 14, 2008, the success story of the Farming Simulator series began. From the very start, the first game in the series appealed to players and thus became a hit almost overnight. This marked the beginning of our still young company GIANTS Software and was the first step on the path to success.

Only four people worked on the first game in the series, and two of them, our CEO Christian Ammann and our Technical Director Stefan Geiger, two of the founders of GIANTS Software, would like to tell you about this journey in a short video today.

We would like to thank all our players for their loyalty. Ten years of Farming Simulator would never have been possible without all of you, because no game lives without its community. Our modders and players, our fans and streamers / YouTubers will always be part of the Farming Simulator family.

We have learned a lot over the past 10 years and improved the game piece by piece to offer you a constantly evolving gaming experience, and we are far from finished!

This applies to the next 10 years, and we promise: we will not rest, we will continue to develop, and we will look toward a bright and exciting future where our next game is going to show you what kind of farm you will enjoy like never before.

Spintires: MudRunner Editor Mini-Update 16/04/2018

Today the Spintires: MudRunner development team released a small update for the Spintires: MudRunner Editor.

Changelog:
- Object coordinates are now correctly applied when set manually.
- It is now possible to specify trailers in the truck selection dialog (necessary for creating a trailer without a tractor).
- The "Create terrain" menu now works again for the editor's root "prebuild" folder.
