SCS Software employees told us about the largest city in the Euro Truck Simulator 2: Beyond the Baltic Sea expansion, the city of Saint Petersburg.

Saint Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia by size and population, with over five million residents. Its geographical location, combining the Neva River and the Gulf of Finland, posed a complex challenge for the developers in terms of accurately implementing the city in the game. The scale limitations of the game map also impose additional constraints on transferring real-world locations into the game world.

Saint Petersburg combines a vast number of cultural sites, landmarks, and well-known popular places—so many that it was difficult for the developers to make a final selection. However, by gathering all their efforts, they arrived at a unified list of landmarks and transport hubs that became the foundation of the city in the game. SCS Software staff hope that players, patriots, and local residents who decide to explore their city in Euro Truck Simulator 2 will support the developers' choices. In Saint Petersburg, the main transport arteries run through densely populated city districts, and designing these was another challenge for the developers. They had to apply many different tricks to achieve the necessary optimization. For example, creating the Western High-Speed Diameter in the game was a real problem for the developers, as this high-speed urban highway was built very recently and there are very few photos and videos of it online. But after thorough work, the developers managed to recreate the city as ordinary drivers see it in real life, with its features, aesthetics, and scale.

The expansion page is already available on Steam, where you can add it to your wishlist. There is no new information on the release date yet, but the developers promise to release Beyond the Baltic Sea before the end of this year.

The new version of Euro Truck Simulator 2 will feature not only new roads but also two full-fledged routes in France. One will be located within the Vive la France! expansion area, and the other in the standard (base) part of the map.

The first road will connect highways A10 and A6, while the second will connect roads A6 and N44. Previous road and terrain updates were very well received by players, and the developers hope that these updates will also appeal to all fans and players.

Moreover, SCS Software will add the entire Sardinia region (the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea) in patch 1.35.

You can reach the island of Sardinia by ferry departing from the port areas of Naples and Palermo, arriving at the port of Cagliari. The island will feature three main cities – Cagliari, Olbia, and Sassari – as well as small villages connected by minor roads; you won’t find highways here. The island will offer very picturesque surroundings and several landmarks, including the famous Church of Santa Maria di Betlem.

If you don’t like large and noisy highways, Sardinia will definitely appeal to you, and you might even consider relocating your company’s headquarters there.

This expansion will be available to everyone who has purchased the Euro Truck Simulator 2: Italia expansion.

In the new Iberia DLC, players in Euro Truck Simulator 2 will have the opportunity to visit the Iberian Peninsula, also known as Iberia. The peninsula is located in southwestern Europe. It is the second largest peninsula, covering 230,000 square miles. It has a huge population, being the second most populous peninsula in Europe with over 57,000,000 inhabitants. The area is generally mountainous.

Players will be able to visit this wonderful place in about a year, on December 3, 2020. Meanwhile, you can check out the latest screenshots. These locations will be available in the new DLC.

Iberia is known for its warm weather and beautiful landscapes and coastlines. However, despite all this, Iberia remains the second largest European peninsula, and the weather can vary greatly depending on where you are headed.

In some places, it can be too warm and bright, while in others you might encounter cool winter weather. The surrounding vegetation changes depending on the destination.

The main goal of the developers is to blend different parts of the region and create something unified from them. Let’s see if they manage to do this in the new major expansion for ETS 2.

The long-awaited update 1.37 has been released for Euro Truck Simulator 2. The developers took into account all opinions and feedback during the closed beta test and delivered a complete update to the players.

The new update finally introduced a new sound engine. The new engine is based on the FMOD library. The engine noticeably changed the way sounds are mixed, specifically environmental sounds and vehicle sounds. Along with the new engine came new traffic, train, and other sounds. Additionally, sound settings have been expanded, allowing each player to customize everything as flexibly as possible.

Another no less important feature is the ability to open the truck windows. The noise level with open windows is significantly different from that with closed windows. Feel the difference between a soundproofed cabin and a version without insulation.

Bypass is a new feature that allows you to better examine your truck in order to fine-tune everything later. For tuning, an alternative camera control method was added. This alternative method works only in the service and gallery. This way, you can closely inspect various details of your vehicle and configure everything as efficiently as possible.

Many were waiting for new food trailers – and this update brought them. Food trailers can be purchased and fully customized to your taste.

The road network of four cities was updated: Reims, Metz, Dijon, Strasbourg. Many types of vegetation were also redesigned in terms of appearance. Their models were changed and textures improved. The same changes affected the landscape as a whole. Some road signs were completely updated/replaced.

Official support for Asus Aura Ready was added. More detailed information will be published by the developers soon, but for now, support has been added for ASUS keyboards, mice, RGB mats, and other devices. In honor of this, a new skin called ASUS ROG was added. This skin is completely free and can be obtained from the Steam Workshop.

The update improved AI movement. Loading screens were added/changed. A system of progressive fines for speeding was also introduced. Now vehicles must be sent for technical inspection at mandatory weigh stations. For Tobii Eye Tracking users, some changes/fixes were made, and the ability to customize the visibility of hotkeys was added.

For Euro Truck Simulator 2, the developers have released another tuning pack. According to them, they enjoy watching how players customize the appearance of their trucks. The tuning pack is designed for the Volvo FH. This truck has been loved by players from the very first seconds of the game, and now a special tuning pack is available for this truck.

The pack includes:
- Interior accessories (curtains, plaques, LEDs, and so on);
- 80+ exterior options (various bumpers, exhausts, lamps, fenders, masks, and so on);
- 2 new skins.


A new event has also started in the game – the construction of the Genoa bridge. This is a city in Italy. The bridge is being built to connect this city with France. During this event, you can also participate in building this bridge. You need to deliver various materials, fuel, and other supplies to the construction site.

The Genoa bridge is being built in the real world, and its construction will help solve a number of serious problems. The developers want to give their gaming community a chance to build this bridge right in the game to support the people of Genoa.

During this event, there will be 2 warehouses on each side of the bridge. Players need to deliver important materials to the construction site. However, besides deliveries, you also need to remove various types of waste: excavated soil and more. And sometimes you will have to deliver unnecessary equipment back.

Event walkthrough

The goal is 500,000 deliveries. Players will have both personal and collective goals. For achieving personal and collective goals, players will receive special rewards from the developers. As mentioned above, there are only 2 warehouses: the eastern warehouse (CDE EST) and the western warehouse (CDE Ovest). To complete the personal goal, you need to make 6 deliveries to each warehouse, that is, 12 deliveries in total.

In total, 1,000,000 deliveries must be made, not just 500,000: 500,000 for each warehouse. Deliveries are available from the following cities: Suzzara, Parma, Florence, Livorno, Bologna, Verona, Milan, Turin.

For achieving the personal goal, the World Of Trucks achievement is awarded. In addition, you can receive a new Steam inventory item – a new paint job. But that’s not all. If the collective goal is reached, meaning 500,000 deliveries have been made to each warehouse, and the player has completed their personal goal – the player will also receive a new accessory for the cabin.

The developers of Euro Truck Simulator 2 have published new information about the changes in the upcoming 1.38 update. The most significant changes are related to the French city of Lille.

Lille is a city that serves as an important link between Belgium and the Netherlands. Players of Euro Truck Simulator 2 know this city well. However, in the update, the city will receive a brand new, high-quality reskin. The city has been given a completely new look, conveying freshness and novelty.

Judging by the screenshots published by the developers, significant changes have been made to various plants: trees, flowers, grass, and more. In addition, the roads have been globally redesigned. This concerns both textures and layout. The road layout has been seriously revised and now more closely matches the real city. Furthermore, road signs have been reworked/reallocated, which is also very important.
